WHO WE ARE

Făclia Publishing House is an independent evangelical publisher and bookseller based in the town of Oradea in the west part of Romania. Făclia enjoys a partnership with Emanuel University of Oradea and occasionally publishes books with this Christian University. All our books can be viewed on this site in both languages. We also have a library online (https://ebooks.faclia.ro) which can be also visited via this site. At the end of 2016 a mobile application became available for audio and electronic resources.

OUR HISTORY

Făclia Publishing House was founded in 1996 by Dinu Moga. After the fall of communism in Romania in 1989 it was immediately obvious that one great need of the Romanian evangelical believers was the publication of Christian literature. After studying two years at London Theological Seminary and another three years for a BA degree with Trinity College, USA, he returned to Romania in 1996 with the aim of setting up a conservative Baptist publishing house in Oradea, Romania. As the general manger of this publishing house his aim was to publish books for churches and Christian schools. His desire was to see growing in Romania a conservative evangelical publishing house, offering to churches some of the best publications in the area of biblical studies and theology.

When Făclia was established in 1996, it commenced its ministry translating books from well-known UK based publishing houses such as The Banner of Truth, Evangelical Press, Christian Focus, Grace Baptist Publishing, IVP, Day One. It continued to expand its working relationships with USA based publishing houses such as Crossway, Baker, IVP, Zondervan, P&R Publishing, Baptist Publishing House in Texarkana USA, and a few others.

In 2005 Dinu earned his Th.M. from Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, USA, a course undertaken through the John Owen Centre for Theological Studies in London (UK) and then, in 2015 he completed his doctoral studies with the Faculty of Reformed Theology of Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

During these years Făclia Publishing House continued to grow despite the economic difficulties which engulfed the whole of Europe and USA beginning with 2008. The number of titles translated and published until present are well over 300, covering a wide range of subjects, such as New and Old Testament studies, systematic and biblical theology, homiletics, hermeneutics, church history, ethics, apologetics, commentaries, devotional readings and children books, all written by committed conservative evangelical authors.

Through our publishing house we are committed to promote our literature among the Romanians and the Romanian Diaspora of Western Europe and Republic of Moldova.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to glorify God and to see the church of Christ continually nourished, built and strengthened through Christian literature. We promote materials which teach the doctrines of grace. Our doctrinal basis is the Baptist Confession of Faith, 1689 and the Romanian Baptist Confession of Faith, 1951.

We wish to continue, as God leads us, to publish and distribute a wide range of Christian books and resources through which a clear biblical perspective is conveyed to the churches and Christian schools in Romania.

HOW DO WE WORK?

We are registered as a limited company. We translate books, articles and other materials from English into Romanian, using competent translators, linguistic and theological editors and proofreaders all with a degree in theology and languages. We promote only those resources which are faithful to the message of the Bible as we understand it. If you would like to partner with us we would be glad if you would support the work of our publishing house. Or you may wish to support individual believers or churches in Romania by buying books from us and distributing them into Romania, the Romanian Diaspora of the Western countries and to those people speaking Romanian in the Republic of Moldova. We will make sure that the prices for our services and the books bought from us will be as affordable as possible.

If you have any queries about resources or services, please feel free to contact us, and one of our team will be delighted to help you.

BASIS OF FAITH

  1. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original documents, and has the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
  1. There is one God, the Creator of all things, infinitely holy and eternally existent in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  1. The Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully Man; he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary; his humanity is real and sinless; he died a substitutionary death on the cross, was raised bodily from death and ascended to his Father’s right hand, where he is now the only mediator between man and God. Christ will come again to receive his own to himself and to reign in power and glory for all eternity.
  1. The Holy Spirit alone makes the work of Christ effective to individual sinners, enabling them to turn to God from their sin and to trust in Jesus Christ. He is Personal and Divine and indwells the believer, who is sealed until the day of redemption and empowered to live a godly life.
  1. Since the fall, each member of the human race is fallen, sinful and lost, so that everyone is subject to God’s wrath and condemnation. Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for the salvation of man. Salvation is by grace alone through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Those who believe in Christ are pardoned all their sins and accepted in God’s sight only because of the righteousness of Christ credited to them; this justification is God’s act of undeserved mercy, received solely by trust in him and not by their own efforts.
  1. There are two Christian ordinances, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism signifies that the believer is buried with Christ and is risen with him to walk in newness of life. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial celebration, instituted by the Lord himself exclusively for his own. In the observance of this supper, believers remember him, they show his death until he comes, and they function as worshiping priests before God. Although Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church until the return of Christ, they are not to be regarded as means of salvation, which is by grace alone through faith.
  1. There is a spiritual unity of all who truly believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and their duty is to maintain in themselves and in the Church a standard of life and doctrine that is in conformity with the teaching of God’s Holy Word.
  1. The Lord Jesus Christ will return in person, to judge everyone, to execute God’s just condemnation on those who have not repented and to receive the redeemed to eternal glory.
  1. There will be a bodily resurrection of the saved and of the lost - of the saved, to eternal life, and of the lost, to eternal punishment.
